Stephen Quinn will be a Premier League player next season providing Hull City do not sensationally throw away their promotion chances.

Quinn, who began his career with St Patrick’s Athletic before moving to Sheffield United is another one of these rare Irish players who boasts a technical ability that we have not seen from our developing players.

When Wes Hoolahan finally made it to the Premier League, it was a novelty for football fans to see an Irish player play in this style. It was certainly a good thing and Hoolahan deservedly earned his first competitive international cap against Sweden.

It might be too early to say, but all indications show that we are about to see a second Irish man playing in the top flight with this unique style. I use the word ‘unique’ as we are more use to seeing these types of players across continental Europe rather than in the UK or Ireland.

This can only be positive for Irish football, however, the question will be if Stephen Quinn would fit into Trap’s plans. Would the Irish manager have space in the squad for both Hoolahan and Quinn, or will he use the excuse that these players are too similar and we only require one of them in the squad? Over to you Trap!

Malta go into this years Eurovision having learned harsh lessons from previous years. Yes, Gianluca Bezzina hits the right note with a contemporary easy song called ‘Tomorrow’.

Gianluca sings about a young man working in IT called Jeremy. He meets a girl on a bench and falls in love way too fast, but there is always hope for Jeremy. It’s hard to say what the moral of the song is. It possibly sends out a message that you never know just what’s around the corner.

Gianluca himself is a Doctor and he only entered the Malta song contest as an extra curricular activity, something he does on the side!

The autumn internationals kicked off this week, like a row over the last can of dutch gold at a student party. There were stompings and stampings, handling and humpings and Ireland once again had Kidney-failure. The team tucked in with as much gusto as an American in McDonalds, and digested the weeks rugby into a form that even a soccer fan could follow.

The withering eyes and caustic tongues were cast over the performances of players and coaches, and as a bonus, we lay the smackdown on the Indo’s Wony Turd for his petulant swipe at the ‘pitiful websites’ who dare to critique the game we know and love. #BreakingNews If you did your job properly Wony, then there might be less need for the likes of us.
